The first time you sign in, you'll need to decide whether you want to make Lync audio and video calls by using Wi-Fi only or by using your cellular data connection when you're not connected to Wi-Fi.

  1. When you first sign in, tap the Next arrow icon.

  2. On the "Manage Data Use" screen under the "Require Wi-Fi for VoIP calls" section, select one of the following options:

    • Tap ON to use Wi-Fi or the mobile voice network to make Lync calls.

    • Tap OFF to use Wi-Fi to make Lync calls. When you're not connected to Wi-Fi, you can use your cellular data connection or mobile minutes instead.

  3. On the "Require Wi-Fi for video calls" select one of the following options:

    • Tap ON to use only Wi-Fi to make Lync video calls.

    • Tap OFF to use your cellular data connection to make Lync video calls when you're not connected to Wi-Fi.

  4. When you've made your selections, tap Next.

  5. Enter your Android's mobile number with country/region codes. When Lync cannot use the Wi-Fi or cellular data connection to make an audio or video call, you'll be called back at this number to connect you to the audio portion of the Lync call.

  6. When you've finished entering your number, tap Next.

  7. Next, the "Change Call Forwarding Setting" screen is shown; confirm your call forwarding settings by tapping Yes or No.

  8. Tap Next to sync your Lync contacts on your device phonebook. If you don't want to sync your Lync contact, uncheck the Sync contacts box.

  9. Tap Done to start using Lync.
