Setting up ThinPrint for use in Hosted Desktop


ThinPrint compresses a file while it is being sent a printer, this is sometimes required when using Hosted Desktop as printing is a lot more resource intensive. To Download and install Thin Print using Windows 7 & Vista please follow the instructions below on your local computer, not within Hosted Desktop.

Configuring ThinPrint


  1. Click here and select the download for your operating system.


  2. After selecting the required download you will be prompted to Run or Save the file please Save the file to your local desktop and Close.


  3. Navigate to your local desktop and Double Click on the TPIcaVen file, select Run and the Thin Print

    Installation Wizard will appear.


  4. Follow the Thin Print Installation Wizard (Next > Accept > Next > Next).


  5. At the Citrix ICA Client Folder select Change.


  6. In the Folder Name enter the following path C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client. (Note: If you have a 64bit computer then the path will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\ICA Client).


  7. Continue through the installation Wizard (OK > Next > Install > Finish)


  8. Now that ThinPrint has been installed you will be required to map the local printers to the Hosted Desktop. On your local desktop please navigate to Start > All Programmes > .print Client Window > Configure.


  9. Select the Assignment tab.


  10. Under the list of Printers in the Assignment tab please Tick the Printers that are to be mapped to your Hosted Desktop.


  11. Click Ok and accept the changes.

I cannot see my ThinPrint printers in Hosted Desktop


To configure Thin Print to map to Hosted Desktop please follow the instructions below:

  1. On your local computer please navigate to Start, All Programmes, .print Client Window and

    Configure.


  2. Select the Assignment tab.


  3. Under the list of Printers in the Assignment tab please Select the Printers that are to be mapped to your Hosted Desktop.


  4. Click Ok and accept the changes.

If you have followed the above instructions and you are still not able to see your printers in Hosted Desktop please follow the instructions below:


  1. On your local computer select Start, right click on My Computer and select Manage.


  2. Expand Services and Application by clicking the + situated to the left of the Services and application.


  3. Select Services.


  4. Find and select the Print Spooler located in the right hand column under Name.


  5. Right click on the Print Spooler service and select Stop.


  6. Once the Print Spooler service has stopped running, right click on it again and select Start.
