Add your Exchange 2013 Account on Android


If you have a mobile device running the Android operating system, you can set up your email account to sync emails on that device.

If you are using Android, you can set up emails using either the built-in Gmail app (Samsung Email App if using a Samsung device) or using the Outlook for Android application.

Note: Setting up your Android device with our Hosted Exchange can vary slightly depending on your exact phone manufacturer. As such you may find that some of the icons on your device may be slightly different to this guide. If you are unsure about the specific options for your device, it may be required to seek assistance from the manufacturer about this.

Gmail (Exchange ActiveSync)

  1. Open your Gmail App

  1. Open the Menu (Icon with 3 lines)

  1. Select Settings

  1. Select Add Account

  1. Select Exchange and Office 365

  1. Enter your Email Address and press Next

  1. Enter your Password and press Next

  1. If prompted, accept the redirect to https://outlook.hs20.net by pressing OK
  2. If prompted, accept the Remote Security Administration prompt by pressing OK


  1. If prompted for additional information, enter:

Server: outlook.hs20.net
Port: 443

Domain\Username: Your full Email address


Please note that some mobile phones have issues completing this step whilst using Wi-Fi connections. If you are having issues with this step, please disable Wi-Fi temporarily and try using mobile data. Once the setup is complete Wi-Fi can be re-enabled.

Your phone will need some time to be able to download the settings for the mailbox and start downloading data. It may take a few minutes for data to appear.

IMAP/POP3

Some users may not have the exchange activesync feature enabled on their mailboxes for various reasons, if that is the case the account will need to be set up via either POP3 or IMAP. Please see the steps below to configure your mailbox as POP3 or IMAP on an Android device via the Gmail app:


  1. Open the Gmail app and navigate to the Settings section.
  2. Tap Add account.
  3. Tap Personal (IMAP/POP) and then Next.
  4. Enter your full email address and tap Next.
  5. Choose the type of email account you will be using.
    • POP3 will download the emails from the server and store them on your phone.
    • IMAP will store the emails on the server and show a cached copy on your phone. IMAP is best in most cases.
  6. Enter the password for your email address and tap Next.

Incoming Server Settings

  1. Username: Enter your full email address
  2. Password: Enter the password for your email account
  3. Server: This is either pop.hs20.net or imap.hs20.net
  4. Port and Security Type:
    • If you're using POP, choose either:
      • Secure - Port: 995 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
      • Insecure - Port: 110 and Security Type: None
    • If you're using IMAP, choose either:
      • Secure - Port: 993 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
      • Insecure - Port: 143 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
  5. Once the settings are entered, tap Next.

Outgoing Server Settings

  1. Select Require Sign-In.
  2. Username: Enter your full email address
  3. Password: Enter the password for your email account
  4. Server: smtp.hs20.net
  5. For SMTP Port and Security Type, choose either:
    • Secure - Port: 465 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Insecure - Port: 25 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
  6. Once the settings are entered, tap Next.

Outlook for Android

Before you can use the Outlook for Android application, you must install it from the Google Play on your device. Click on the Outlook icon to be taken to the Google Play Page for the application.

If it’s the first time you are using the application, you will automatically be taken to the account setup screen.

  1. Open the Outlook for Android Application

  2. Click on the Menu icon

  1. Select the Settings Cog

  1. Select Add Account

  2. Select Add Email Account

  1. Enter the email address of the account you want to add

  2. press Continue

  3. Enter your password when prompted

Note: If prompted for a server address, please enter outlook.hs20.net
