Signing into Microsoft 365 for the First Time

The Microsoft 365 web portal provides a single site you can use to access all your Microsoft 365 Applications. It is recommended to sign into the Microsoft 365 Portal before any other applications to finish the setup of your account.

To ensure the best experience, you should ensure your internet browser is supported. See the supported browsers for Microsoft 365.

Signing In

You can sign into your Microsoft 365 Portal at:

On the Sign in screen, enter your email address, followed by Next. Then enter your password, followed by Sign in

Please use the password generated by the Cobweb Onboarding Team, provided to your account administrator. 

You will then be prompted to set a new password. 

Enter the previous password as the Current Password. Enter a new password you would like to use going forward in both the New Password and Confirm Password fields, then press Sign In. The New and Confirm Password fields must match exactly. 

Your new password must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 8 Characters
  • At least 3 of the following: Uppercase Letters, Lowercase Letters, Numbers or Symbols
  • Must not contain your name, username, or organisation name

You should avoid using passwords you have used for other sites or services. 

You will be prompted to provide more information to help secure your account. Press Next to begin entering this information.

You must provide this information within 14 days of your first login. 

You must set up the Microsoft Authenticator Application on your mobile device to set up Multi Factor Authentication. 

If you do not have the Authenticator App installed, select Download Now, and use the QR Code or link for your mobile device type. 

Press Next to begin setting up the Authenticator App.

If you can’t install the Authenticator App on your mobile device, please request your account administrator to contact the Cobweb Onboarding Team to allow alternative options.

Open the Authenticator App on your mobile device, select the + icon in the top corner, then select Work or School Account. Select Scan QR Code

On the web browser, press Next to display the QR code. 

Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code in the web browser. 

Once scanned, press Next in your Web Browser. 

You will receive a prompt on your mobile device. Press Approve on this prompt to confirm the request. 

Press Next in your Web Browser.

For your second option, enter the country and phone number of an SMS (text messaging) compatible device. Then press Next.

You will be sent a 6-digit code to the specified number. Enter this code in your Web Browser, then press Next.

If you do not receive the code, select Resend Code to have a new one sent or press Back to change the number entered. 

Press Next, then Done to finish the setup.

If you do not wish to provide a phone number, you can instead choose I want to set up a different method to set up another option instead.


Select if you want to remain signed into your browser. 

You should not select Yes if you are using a shared login to a computer or device.
